NORWEGIAN SUCCESS FOR NICLAS LUNDIN

Niclas Lundin (Scandinavian Songs) and Maria Marcus (BMG Chrysalis) have together with the Belgian songwriters Patrick Hamilton and Vincent Pierin penned the winner song “Building An Aeroplane” for the Norwegian Idol, which was performed in the final in Oslo on December 16th by both finalist, Jenny Langlo and Vegard Leite.

Jenny won with 52% of the public votes. During the weekend her version of the song reached the no 1 position on the iTunes chart in Norway, replacing Coldplay´s “Paradise”. Both versions were released by Universal Music.

Niclas and Maria have scored a Norwegian “double-value” as their song “Another Heartache”, co-written with the performing artist Rikke Lie (Universal) will be one entry in MGP 2012, the Norwegian selection finals for Eurovision Song Contest.  The song competes in Larvik on January 28th.

The married couple Niclas and Maria also have one entry in the Swedish Eurovision selection as previously mentioned. Their song “Aldrig Aldrig” will compete on February 11th, performed by Andreas Lundstedt (ex-Alcazar), signed to EMI. In the same semfinal Niclas is also represented as writer, together with Anton Malmberg Hård af Segerstad, with the entry “Det går för långsamt”. Artist is newcomer Mimi Oh (Lionheart).

WAERMO DOES IT… AGAIN

Scandinavian Songs writer Samuel Waermö continues to be successful in Japan with his songs.

He and Stefan Åberg delivered, as previously reported here on our news section, the debut single and smash hit for Johnnys boyband Kis My ft2, “Everybody Go”, and now Samuel is involved in one of the tracks on their follow-up single. The track is called “Love Is You”, co-written with Daichi and youwhich. The single entered at no 1 on the singles chart on December 14th.

This is only just a month after Samuel had another extra track on a number one single in Japan, as another Johnnys band, Sexy Zone took over the top position on the Oricon charts with their selftitled debut. Samuel co-wrote the song, “Knock Knock Knock” with Didrik Thott and Daichi.
